1. SUM: used to search the contents of the data on a specific range
2. AVERAGE: used to find the average value of a range
3. MAX: used to find the highest value from a range
4. MIN: used to find the lowest value from a range
5. COUNT: used to find amount of data from one range of numbers
6. COUNTA: used to find amount of data from a range of numbers, letters, symbols
7. COUNTIF: used to find amount of data from a range that has been specified, eg 20,> 20
8. LEN: used to find number of characters in a single cell
